The materials used for casting moulds are as follows:
1. Steel: In the past, it was mainly used to make standard parts and structural parts on sand casting molds, but less used to make casting mold bodies, because the service life of carbon steel was not longer than that of nodular iron or low alloy gray cast iron, and alloy steel was very expensive.
2. Wood mold: Wood mold is still widely used in China, and is mostly used for manual modeling or small batch production and production of single pieces. However, with the improvement of environmental protection awareness and the limitation of poor wood processing performance, full mold casting is gradually replacing wood mold casting.
3. Full mold casting: full mold casting is a casting made of foamed plastic plates, cut and pasted into the required pattern, and then poured. This method has shorter cycle and lower cost than wood mold. The application of plastic mold is on the rise, especially the application of processable plastics is increasingly widespread.
4. Aluminum alloy die: aluminum alloy die is widely used because of its light weight and high dimensional accuracy. However, the application has decreased recently, and some markets have been replaced by plastic molds and cast iron molds.
5. Cast iron mold: cast iron mold is the first choice for mass casting production. It has the advantages of high strength, high hardness, good processability, low cost, long service life, etc., and is loved by a large number of factories.
